My mom wants me to say thanks to all you kitties who have complimented her photographs (she's blushing), and wants me to add that she's just someone who loves to "play" in Photoshop a lot. She's always experimenting and stuff - sometimes she just has to give up on a picture but figures she learned something from it anyway. She likes Picasa, too, but doesn't like that the pictures have to be saved as .jpgs, since she prefers lossless pngs and tiffs. However, she says if a photo is lost somewhere on your computer, Picasa is useful for locating it!
Anyway, she knows her pictures aren't perfect (or she'd be rich or something), but she gets a lot of enjoyment out of editing a photo. Can you believe that? I'd rather be napping or running through my tunnel cubes anytime! Anyway, the picture shown here was taken with her cell phone camera. You can see the before Photoshop and after Photoshop versions. Although it's small (since it came from her cell phone), it's one of her favorite photographs of me now.
P.S. She said at work this morning she suddenly sneezed about 20 times, and then immediately had a cold. Her head's all stopped up, and she keeps carrying around those soft pieces of papers people wipe their noses with. When she and Dad got home tonight, she fed me (I have her well-trained) and my sisters, and then fell asleep. When Daddy woke her up a bit ago so she could help me blog, she'd been sleeping with her shoes on even!
P.P.S. Mom didn't use a pre-made frame for that photo - she used the eraser tool with different brushes to put the bitey on the edges of the picture.

I am very amazed that a photo that beautiful could come from a cell phone! So, it shows that part of the art of picture taking has to do with composition, as well as the editing. Thanks for your helpful hints!

Yur mom takes furry good pictors, an so much of it is composition an artistic talent rather than the flashy box or software.
Mom uses ACDSee an Dad uses The GIMP, which he says is free an almost the same as PhotoShop.
Lux, yur mom would prolly love to join Flickr. Affer uploadin photos, you can submit them to groups fur comments frum ofur members. There are squillions of cat groups plus ofurs wif serious photography tips.

Like everyone said, that is amazing how you can change the photo. Of course, Lux, you are a beautiful cat to begin with...Hope that your mom feels better soon!

Victor: Mom says she really doesn't want to join another photo site, because she used to belong to PhotoNet and another site like that (Dad's on Flickr) and she tends to spend too much time on them commenting and stuff. She says helping me with my blog takes a lot of her time (can you imagine?). Hmpf! Thanks for the idea, though!
She doesn't always use the cell phone, though - she's also got a Canon 10D, but she found out from Skeezix that it's probably her lens that makes it hard to get good low light pictures. It likes to take pictures outdoors!
Mom likes to play around like this too. She just did for my post today. But she doesn't do it enough. She probably could come up with more things if she played with it more. She has Adobe photo and she fixed a picture of her when she was little. It was torn and whatever and she got to where it was pretty decent then she lost it. Now she has to do it all over again. She has problems about saving as she goes. Sometimes I wonder if she will ever learn.
